Summary:  The Shop Technician Supervisor oversees and manages the daily operations of a distribution center workshop, leading a team of technicians to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality completion of all maintenance, repair, and fabrication work. This role is responsible for coordinating work schedules, providing technical guidance, monitoring performance, and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards. The Shop Technician Supervisor plays a critical role in fostering a productive work environment while ensuring timely completion of all projects and adherence to company best practices.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Direct and supervise a team of technicians, assigning daily tasks and ensuring work completion meets time and quality requirements
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes productivity and engagement
  • Monitor individual and team performance against PPH (pieces per hour) standards, providing regular feedback, coaching, and guidance
Workflow Management & Planning
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule daily work assignments to ensure timely project completion
  • Monitor workflow progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Review operating goals and standards daily while ensuring adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Implement best practices to enhance shop productivity and reduce downtime
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and client specifications through company software including "Product Quality" and "High Jump"
  • Inspect completed work for accuracy, thoroughness, and quality
  • Perform minor repairs on top surfaces of case pieces and tables
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and machinery are well-maintained, sustained, and in proper working condition
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Enforce safety policies and ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations
  • Promote a culture of safety in the shop by providing guidance on safe work practices and addressing potential hazards
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations
Customer Service & Claims Management
  • Record necessary details regarding customer claims, including customer information, issue descriptions, and supporting documentation (receipts, photos, etc.)
  • Process and facilitate returns, exchanges, or repairs for defective or unsatisfactory products
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely resolution of product issues
Inventory & Resource Management
  • Oversee inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability when needed
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering to prevent work delays
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency

Work Environment:  
This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
