Program Director for Limited X-Ray Machine Operator Certificate Program
Stepful is launching a new 16-week Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO) certificate program in South Carolina — one of the first programs of its kind in the state — in partnership with a healthcare employer partner. The LXMO credential is a growing national response to radiologic technologist shortages, creating a shorter, focused training pathway into diagnostic imaging.
We are seeking a Program Director for this initiative on a 1099 contract basis. In this initial phase, the role is estimated to require around 3 hours per week, with a primary focus on supporting the program's state approval process and potentially representing the program in a board review. As the program launches and matures, the role is expected to grow meaningfully in scope and commitment.
The Program Director will serve as Stepful's credentialed representative in South Carolina: maintaining working knowledge of state regulations and SCRQSA requirements, supporting approval and compliance processes, participating in instruction as appropriate, and serving as a point of contact for the SC market. Curriculum development and instructor hiring are managed by Stepful's internal teams.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to help establish a credential pathway that doesn't yet widely exist in South Carolina.
What you'll do:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the LXMO certificate program, ensuring effective and consistent program delivery
- Monitor student progress and educational outcomes, identifying and addressing gaps to maintain program quality
- Support the state approval process, including preparation of required documentation, reporting, and correspondence with the SCRQSA and any applicable accrediting bodies
- Participate in didactic instruction as appropriate to program needs
- Serve as a point of contact for program instructors and students, facilitating communication and escalating issues to the appropriate Stepful team
- Participate in instructor interview processes as a subject matter expert
- Maintain current knowledge of the LXMO field (in the state of South Carolina), relevant state regulations, and best practices in allied health education through ongoing professional development
What you'll bring:
- Current ARRT certification in Radiography R.T.(R), with eligibility for or current active certification through the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA)
- Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a closely related field
- 3+ years of clinical experience as a radiologic technologist
- 1+ years of instructional or program oversight experience in an allied health, limited radiography, or full-scope radiologic technology program
- The ability to attend a board meeting in Greenville, SC, with members of Stepful's internal team, on August 22, 2026
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across faculty, staff, students, and external partners
- Analytical and problem-solving orientation, with comfort navigating ambiguity in a growing program
Bonus points if:
- You have a master's degree in Radiologic Sciences, Health Education, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- You have direct experience with SCRQSA processes and South Carolina-specific regulatory requirements for radiologic technology programs
- You have prior experience as a program director or clinical coordinator in a radiologic technology program
Interview Process:
- Initial Interview with a Learning team member
- Follow-up Conversation with a Talent Acquisition team member
The hourly rate range for this opportunity is $50/hour - $60/hour. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.
Stepful is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
