You will take ownership of ambiguous business questions, explore and shape underlying data, and produce clear, decision-oriented outputs such as whitepapers, executive briefs, and strategic analyses.

This role sits at the intersection of data, analysis, and decision-making.It owns the development of analytical insights and recommendations that guide fundraising strategy across channels and programs, including both direct response and relationship-based fundraising efforts. In a small, high-functioning team, you will need to be flexible across both strategic and hands-on work. While your primary focus will be on deep analysis and insight generation, you will also contribute to reporting and dashboard development as needed, particularly for exploratory analyses or time-sensitive requests.

As the analytics function grows, you will help shape analytical practices and may take on mentoring or management responsibilities over time.Initially, your focus will be on hands-on analytical leadership and individual contribution.

    • Lead complex analytical projects from problem definition through recommendation, including donor retention, acquisition performance, channel effectiveness, and cross-channel insights

    • Independently structure ambiguous questions into clear analytical approaches and hypotheses

    • Develop insights and recommendations that directly inform fundraising strategy and decision-making

    • Apply analytical thinking across both transaction-based and relationship-based fundraising models, adapting approaches as needed

  • Analytics Leadership & Collaboration

    • Independently own analytical workstreams end-to-end, including problem definition, analysis, and recommendation

    • Partner with the AVP on the most complex and high-priority analytical questions

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into analytical approaches

  • Narrative Development & Communication

    • Develop clear, structured written outputs, including whitepapers, executive briefs, and strategic memos

    • Present findings in a way that supports decision-making, including outlining key insights, implications, and recommended actions

    • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Data Exploration & Analytical Data Preparation

    • Independently explore both curated datasets and raw data sources to determine what data is available, what it represents, and how it can be used

    • Assess data quality, completeness, and limitations, and apply judgment in determining fitness for use

    • Transform and prepare data for analysis as needed, including joining datasets, creating derived metrics, and applying appropriate logic

    • Clearly communicate data limitations, assumptions, and tradeoffs in analytical work

    • Partner with stakeholders and Data Services team members to validate assumptions and align with established data definitions

  • Cross-Channel Performance Analysis

    • Synthesize performance across fundraising channels including direct response (e.g., direct mail, digital, SMS, DRTV) and other fundraising areas such as major giving, peer-to-peer, and planned giving

    • Identify patterns, interactions, and tradeoffs across donor segments and programs

    • Translate performance into organization-wide learnings that inform strategy

  • Reporting & Dashboarding

    • Define what should be measured and how data should be presented to support decision-making

    • Partner with colleagues to shape dashboards, reports, and KPI views

    • Build or refine reports and dashboards when needed, particularly for exploratory analysis or time-sensitive requests

    • Ensure reporting outputs accurately reflect underlying data and analytical conclusions

  • Stakeholder Support & Analytical Enablement

    • Collaborate to improve reporting structures based on user needs and analytical insights

  • Team Development & Scalable Practices

    • Develop repeatable analytical approaches and frameworks to improve consistency and efficiency

    • Provide guidance and review of junior analysts as the team grows; may assume formal management responsibilities over time

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
