Utility Operator
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Floating Utility Operator to support operations at several asphalt plant locations throughout Prince Georges County and Anne Arundel County. The Floating Utility Operator is responsible for supporting daily operations across multiple plant locations through general labor, equipment operation, and material handling duties. This position also performs plant housekeeping, assists with operational needs, and completes additional responsibilities as assigned to help maintain safe and efficient production.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Perform routine inspections of plant machinery and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials used in asphalt production.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, and haul trucks as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment throughout the plant and yard areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Support plant production activities to meet daily operational goals and customer demands.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, including shoveling, sweeping, and debris removal.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with repairs and preventative maintenance activities when required.
  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by plant management.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: Experience operating heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, loaders, excavators, and backhoes.
  • Previous experience working in an asphalt plant, quarry, construction, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, or haul trucks.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and following company procedures.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to perform general labor and housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment or operational issues.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or varying shifts based on production needs.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
