Position Highlights: The University of Arizona College of Information Science focuses on the intersection of people, data, and technology, offering innovative programs in information science, data science, cybersecurity, game design, and immersive technologies.Established in 2023 and expanded in 2025, the college provides STEM-designated undergraduate and master's degrees, and a PhD. in Information.With nationally ranked programs such as the #1 Best Online Bachelor's in Cybersecurity, #4 Best Master's in Data Science, and #10 Global Ranking of Library and Information Science Programs.

It emphasizes computational thinking, ethical reasoning, and multicultural communication while driving research and partnerships such as Arizona Cybersecurity Academy, AI Core, Gaming and Virtual Worlds, Human-Centered Computing, and many other areas of research.

The Adjunct Instructor for Game Design and Development will provide instruction for programs for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, contingent upon availability of funding.NOTE: The teaching schedule will be dependent upon class assignment, assignment may be classroom-based, virtual, or some combination thereof, depending on need and instructor preference.Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment.

If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work.For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws, and your position title would be "Part-Time Faculty" instead of "Adjunct Instructor" in accordance with university practices.These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined.

An hourly rate for this position would be $46.88-$56.25 per hour.Your teaching load may make you eligible for benefits if you work at a .50 FTE or greater for 90 days or longer.You may also become eligible for retirement if you work at a .50 FTE or greater for 20 weeks or longer.As courses and loads are determined, we will notify employees should they gain benefits and/or retirement eligibility status.

Duties & Responsibilities: Instruct students in field of expertise. Plan course delivery, align content with other courses as needed, and provide feedback on student work. Advise students, hold office hours, and provide student support. Assist with Capstone projects or individual student projects as needed, engaging in project-based pedagogy when possible.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field AND a minimum of 3 years working as a professional expert in the field. Graduate Instruction: Ph.D. in a related field AND a minimum of 3 years working as a professional expert in the field.

Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree in Information Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Library Science, Media Ecology, Game Media, Gaming Behavior, Game Design and Production, Game Development, or other related field. Content expertise that aligns with enrollment needs.
