About the Role

Engineer II

The primary responsibility of this position is the design and field validation of electrical and camera systems and components for on/off-highway vocational mobile equipment. The creation of project timelines, scope of work documents, and work instructions are key aspects ofthe job. Additional responsibilities include working with suppliers to make electrical system component selections, developing, and maintaining software for PLCs/Controllers, Camera Systems, and assisting production/field techs with electrical system diagnostics are all duties of the position.

Essential job functions include:

  • Circuit design with electromechanical components.
  • Harness design using AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics of varying complexities.
  • Logic design, both combinational and sequential, implemented with PLC/Controller.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers, distributors, and salespersons.
  • Reduce system level customer requirements to electrical specifications and requirements.
  • Upgrade existing designs to meet current requirements, improving reliability and reducing cost.
  • Coordinate design validation testing at component, subsystem, and system level.
  • Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, deliverables, and quality plans.
  • Development of work instructions to assist field techs with installation.
  • Be able to travel up to 30-40% of time, work overtime and weekends on an as needed basis.

Job specifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in applicable work environment required.
  • Desired software skill sets are: Microsoft Office; PRO-E or other 3D modeling software, AutoCAD. Special consideration would be given to candidates with experience in these areas.
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)/Controller software experience.
  • Circuit design experience with electromechanical components.
  • Mobile equipment harness design.
  • Experience with vehicle mounted camera and recording systems.
  • Experience resolving production floor electrical issues on mobile equipment.
  • Experience resolving field issues while customer facing.
  • Supplier/Component selection of electrical materials.
  • Creation of testing and validation plans for electrical systems.
  • Understanding of J1939 communications standards required.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics required.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Accountability: Accepts responsibility and accessibility for both the strategic planning and the successful implementation of all projects, programs, and duties as outlined in this job description. Advises supervisor of concerns, problems, and progress of work in a timely manner.
