About the Role

About Stepful:

Stepful is reimagining allied healthcare training by offering affordable, online, instructor-led, and AI-supported programs that help learners-regardless of background or circumstance-launch high-demand healthcare careers.

In addition to our direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to address the growing national shortage of healthcare workers. Our graduates, including Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, Nurses, and more, form the talent pipelines at major employers like CVS, NY-Presbyterian, HCA, Providence, and Walgreens.

Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $31.5M Series B led by Oak HC/FT. We were named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. by TIME for 2025.

We're improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere, and improving access to healthcare careers for those who need them most

Our values:

We credit much of our success to our exceptional team. We're looking for mission-driven builders who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, and embody our four core values:
  • Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.
  • Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.
  • Build together: We win when we rely on each other.
  • Own it: We show up, take initiative, and show pride.
The opportunity:

We are seeking a full-time Travel Clinical Educator, Surgical Technology to support Stepful's Surgical Technology program across multiple locations around the United States. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on skills instruction, supporting student remediation, and ensuring strong clinical and certification outcomes.

In addition to teaching, the Clinical Educator will serve as a key on-site representative of Stepful, partnering with our clinical sites to support client onboarding and program implementation between 11-week cohorts. This role requires regular travel and close collaboration with both internal teams and external partners between cohorts. The initial 11-week cohort begins in mid-July at our employer partner site in Lincoln, Nebraska, with future cohorts occurring in various locations.

This full-time, travel-based role reports into the Program Director, Surgical Services.

Stepful will cover reasonable travel expenses required for the role. This includes flights, transportation, and hotel accommodations. All travel-related expenses must be pre-approved by the employee's manager and comply with the Company's travel policy.

What you'll do:
  • Teach and facilitate skills labs and clinical instruction across assigned Stepful cohorts.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques, provide live step-by-step instruction, and supervise practice.
  • Assess student competency and provide feedback and remediation as needed.
  • Ensure students achieve mastery of skills before advancing to clinical rotations.
  • Coordinate with hospital preceptors to align experiences with program goals.
  • Document student progress and report clinical outcomes.
  • Represent Stepful on client and partner calls, supporting our solutions team with implementation.
  • Provide insights to enhance the student and partner experience.
What you'll bring:
  • Willingness to travel to multiple clinical sites around the United States (this is a travel-based role!)
  • Current Surgical Tech certification (CST or NCCT)
  • 3+ years of experience teaching Surgical Technology in a lab or school setting
  • Hands-on experience as a Surgical Technologist in the operating room
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to be hands-on, resourceful, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done and thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Current BLS certification
Bonus points if you have:
  • CRCST certification and/or experience teaching Sterile Processing
  • Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field
  • Experience with competency-based education models
  • Experience supporting diverse and underserved student populations
  • Familiarity with NCCT certification requirements
  • Previous experience with online or hybrid education programs
Interview Process:
  • Introductory call with Talent Acquisition team member
  • Interview with Hiring Manager
  • Take-Home Assignment
  • Final Panel Interview
Benefits and Compensation:
  • Meaningful Equity Stake
  • Subsidized Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plan options
  • 401(k)
  • FSA, HSA and commuter benefits
  • Learning stipend
  • Open vacation policy, including:
    • Guidance of 15 days PTO annually
    • Stepful closed the last week of December
    • 15 work-from-anywhere days
    • 10 public holidays observed for 2026

The target base salary range for this opportunity is $80,000 - $95,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.
