We are strengthening today our Gameplay Animation team - composed of 6 people - to meet the major challenges of the project.

Missions:
What you will do:
Creation & Integration of Gameplay Animations
- Produce fluid, responsive, and readable gameplay animations in line with the art direction (realistic stylized).
- Animate in keyframe and/or rework motion capture, by dynamizing the raw data to enhance intention, rhythm, and personality.
- Create combat gameplay animations: attacks, reactions, movements, interactions.
- Export, test, and integrate animations via internal tools.
Development of Animation Systems
- Prototype animations quickly to facilitate communication with Game Design and Programming.
- Participate in the development, polish, and finalization of gameplay-oriented animation systems.
- Ensure compatibility and consistency with mechanics (combat, interactions, NPC behaviors).
Inter-team Collaboration
- Work closely with: the Artistic Director of Animation, the Lead Animator and the animator team, Game Designers (intentions, readability), Gameplay Programmers (integration, debug, technical constraints), Technical Animators (pipelines, state machines, animtrees).
- Identify needs, report issues, and propose adapted solutions.
Quality, Optimization & Iteration
- Test the game to identify additional animation needs.
- Iterate on the integrated content to ensure consistency, artistic fidelity, and performance.
- Maintain a high level of quality while respecting the technical constraints of the internal AAA engine.
Your Work Environment
- Based at Ubisoft Montpellier, under the supervision of the Lead Animation (3 days in-office minimum)
- Experienced and specialized team.
- Tools: MotionBuilder (main), internal AAA engine, Jira, Perforce (P4V).
- Animation style: Semi-realistic stylized oriented gameplay.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Solid background in 3D animation — share your best animations in your Demo Reel.
- Excellent minimum proficiency in MotionBuilder (keyframe + mocap).
- Very good skills in gameplay combat animation.
- Fluency in game engines, animation pipelines, import/export, Perforce.
- Experience on AAA projects.
- Ability to communicate in English (oral and written).
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of Maya (optional).
- Appetite for Tech Anim (state machines, animtrees, pipeline).
- Understanding of French.
Soft skills:
- Autonomy and Initiative : ability to quickly grasp topics, propose solutions, and progress without constant supervision.
- Excellent Communication : essential to collaborate effectively with different teams.
- Artistic Sense and Attention to Detail : to ensure animations are consistent with the semi-realistic stylized art direction.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration : work with various profiles and understand their constraints to find adapted solutions.
