About the Role
Business Development Director – Pharmaceuticals & Biotech
The Business Development Director will report directly to the VP sales and Business Development.The Business Development Director will lead sales activities to develop new business that utilizes our company's contract manufacturing services.The candidate will lead the strategic analysis of new projects and potential clients while developing strategies for the U.S. to compliment corporate business plans.This individual will assess the commercial viability of potential projects in the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
With specific focus on external client opportunities that have not been aggressively pursued in the past, the Business Development Director will have a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to make a top - line impact on the U.S. business.The key task of the position is to help the efforts to build and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers in the U.S.
Responsibilities
Pro-actively identifies new potential clients and broaden customer base. Attends trade shows to promote our company's offer and meet customers and prospective clients.
Identification of new business opportunities.
Focus on customer needs and providing tailor-made solutions.
Close cooperation with research, process development and production in order to work out competitive advantages by using state-of-the-art technology.
Providing hands-on day-to-day management when appropriate.
Co-operative teamwork in order to realize short- and long-term operational plans to move the company's business unit strategy forward.
Accurately forecasts annual, quarterly and monthly project and revenue streams.
Requirements
5+ years progressive experience, including demonstrated success in sales, marketing and key account management focusing on the Life Sciences industry.
Proven experience in custom synthesis or CDMO (Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization).
Strong network of contacts within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
Technical knowledge in organic chemistry and biology with the ability to engage in technical discussions.
Experience working in large, complex organizations and identifying new business opportunities.
Nice to have/Desired:
University degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, Ph.D. organic chemist preferred
Experience attending and promoting at trade shows and industry events.
