About the Role

Position Summary:
The Industrial Engineering Technician will plan designs and recommend complete facilities new or improved, including floor plans and/or equipment modernization requirements, for the repair and fabrication or electric and electronic related equipment. Plans theeffective location and relocation so the mission dir3ectorate productive elements before, after and during construction and or plant modifications. This position will utilize automation tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Excel Spreadsheet to develop and coordinate effectively. This position will be locating major shop organizational elements while keeping shops productively operational during moves and construction/relocation. This position will be expected to provide advice and guidance on industrial modernization division and recommendations concerning project problem resolution. Assists the Division Chief and team leader in solving short- and long-range production and facilities problems.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a special assistant to the Chief of Industrial Modernization Division in resolving various technical operational problems related o industrial operations through interface with the mission directors and division chiefs.
  • Maintain daily contact with the shop supervisors' personnel to keep the team abreast of various projects and operational activities.
  • Handle both project proposals and operational problems as well as personnel involved in a manner that eliminates further controversy.
  • Prepare statements of work as required.
Experience Requirements:
  • Working knowledge in applying a wide range of analytical and diagnostic techniques for developing new or modified work methods.
  • The ability to develop innovative methods and suggest appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems and issues
  • Understanding of how to formulate and present findings to foster understanding and acceptance of recommendations.
Education Requirements:
  • Two-year Associate of Science (AS) Degree in Industrial Engineering/Technology or related field from an accredited education institution. Accreditation of educational institution must come from an institution recognized by either the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
  • In Lieu of Three years' specialized experience as related to tasks, additional education (MA/PhD) may be substituted for up to 1 year experience.
Work Environment/ Physical Demands:
  • Work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks and discomfort, such as the following: dust, strong odors, or fumes of fuels, chemicals, or engine exhaust, high level of noise and vibration, electrical hazards, uncovered moving parts of machinery, moving machinery; or outdoor conditions involving moderate exposure to rain and cold/hot weather. Requires the employee to stay alert and take special safety precautions including wearing special protective clothing and using protective equipment.
  • The work requires some physical exertion. Common characteristics of the work are long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, rocky, or slippery surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing, or similar activities; recurring lifting of light to moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds, such as testing or measuring equipment.
