We are currently seeking a Vascular‑trained Neurologist desiring a leadership opportunity as stroke medical director of our comprehensive stroke center (0.1 FTE of total 1.0 FTE position).
Full‑time position with an emphasis on inpatient neurology (24/7, 7 days on/7 days off schedule) with an estimated 15‑20 patients per day. This is a consult‑only service, including consults in the intensive care unit, general medical floor, and the emergency room. The job requires management of all acute (nonsurgical) neurological problems, including acute stroke. Endovascular coverage is provided by the University of Minnesota.
You will lead a large teaching service comprised of residents, interns, medical students, and a stroke APP. First call for all consults, including at night, is managed by the in‑house neurology residents; the staff neurologist is not expected to be in the hospital after hours. Opportunities for research and involvement in clinical trials are available to motivated applicants. All neurologists in our department have the opportunity to seek professorship appointment at the University of Minnesota.
Hours: Monday–Friday 8 am–6 pm in the hospital, on‑call after hours and weekends. One week call is considered 7 am Monday to 7 am the following Monday.
Physicians are expected to take an active role in teaching fellows, residents, and medical students through direct patient care and formal/informal lectures.
