Are you passionate about renewable energy and ready to make a significant impact? TotalEnergies Renewables USA, LLC is expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector, and we are looking for a dedicated Director, Development (US Distributed Generation Solar & Storage) to join our team. This exciting role involves developing a portfolio of large and complex BTM solar and BESS projects from contract execution to NTP.

Activities

  • Manage a team of Developers/Sr. Developers responsible for bringing our project portfolio from contract execution to NTP.
  • Lead all development activities including securing sites, performing due diligence activities, perfecting real estate, complying with environmental, local, state and federal permitting requirements and all related site studies, engaging community members, evaluating and coordinating interconnection activities and leading customer meetings.
  • Manage third-party consultants to achieve the development activities above.
  • Collaborate with the technical, engineering, construction, finance, and asset management teams to lead the development activities above.
  • Provide leadership and direction to development team members and cross functional team members in order to successfully manage project budgets, schedules, project development risks, customer contract changes, project valuation assumptions and all other essential functions for mid-stage projects.
  • Coordinate activities to establish and negotiate financeable lease/purchase options and site control agreements with landowners as needed, including supervising local land agents.
  • Create and oversee new market and greenfield development strategies within specified region(s) to support the development of virtual net metered and other creative offers for TotalEnergie's commercial customers.
  • Maintain CRM to review strategy and report out on activity associated with development efforts
  • Participate in project handover to the Construction team
  • Assist in developing competitive offtake pricing and competitive analysis (when applicable)
  • Coordinate the preparation of all materials for project finance and sell-down activities
  • Contribute to TEDGUS Budget and Long-Term Plan exercises and implementation
  • Mentor and train team members on various Development related topics.
Candidate Profile
  • Education: 4-year degree,Master'spreferred
  • Work Experience: 7-10 years in renewable energy development (at least 2 years in large BTM or utility scale solar/storage)
  • Demonstrated experience in land development, entitlement, permitting and interconnection
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, governmental rules, incentives and market trends that impact project development in CAISO, ERCOT, PJM and other target markets
  • Experience negotiating and managing commercial project agreements including MSAs, PPAs, EPCs, LOIs, lease/tolling agreements and O&M contracts
  • A proven track record as team leader and/or lead developer with solar and storage projects 5-100MWs in size
  • Hands-on experience managing projects, people, and strategic objectives simultaneously, with varying complexities and urgencies presented day to day;
  • Team oriented with a positive disposition
  • Strong communication skills and ability to summarize complex issues and convey information to enable efficient decision making, and experience presenting to diverse audiences including but not limited to management, coworkers, customers, vendors, contractors and community members.
  • Experience leading direct reports in multiple regions, and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Subject matter expertise (e.g. real estate, finance, environmental, permitting, tax abatements) and Project Management Professional certification highly valued
  • Experience and expertise with MS Office (word, excel), MS Project and PowerPoint.
