Summary:
CHRISTUS SPOHN is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its team at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Alice, TX. This is a PRN position needed for weekend and holiday coverage.
Provides comprehensive cardiac care under physician supervision. Follows established nursing protocols, delegates to support staff, and evaluates and adjusts patient care. Coordinates diagnostics and treatments, maintains accurate charting, and facilitates referrals and consults. Conducts physical exams, prescribes medications and therapies, and performs specialty procedures as credentialed.
Key Responsibilities:
Practice in accordance with Texas Board of Nursing and APN scope of practice.
Round and assess patients with the Cardiologist.
Document the assessment.
Order medications and treatments as needed.
Consult with the hospitalist regarding the consultations.
Communicate with the Cardiologist regarding assessment and results.
Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant medical records.
Qualifications:
Advanced Nursing Degree or Master's Degree required.
Current Texas State Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license or PA license.
Advances Nursing Degree or Master's Degree required.
Current Texas State Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license or PA license.
2 years' experience in Cardiology, ER, or ICU background/experience preferred.
New grads will be considered depending on previous experience.
CPR certification (AHA).
Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer/team-oriented skills.
