The Opportunity
You will serve as a key operational leader driving daily heavy civil and site development activities across South Hampton and surrounding areas. This role gives you the autonomy to direct field operations, manage self-perform crews, and partner with a family-owned organization that invests directly in your growth.
You will lead high-profile projects while utilizing company-sponsored continuing education and certifications to advance your career.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Oversee all daily heavy civil and site development activities from earthwork to final paving.
- Develop and enforce 2-week and 3-week look-ahead schedules to ensure overall project milestones are met.
- Manage self-perform crews and specialized subcontractors across grading, deep utilities, and concrete work.
- Interpret civil specifications, contract drawings, soil reports, and utility plans for site compliance.
- Enforce strict OSHA safety standards, manage daily toolbox talks, and maintain an incident-free job site.
- Conduct field quality inspections for soil compaction, utility testing, layout accuracy, and paving.
- Maintain digital daily logs tracking labor hours, equipment, material inventory, and weather delays.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of related work experience in heavy civil construction and field management.
- Deep knowledge of civil construction methods, mass earthwork, deep utilities, and site paving.
- Strong ability to interpret civil drawings, topo maps, utility plan profiles, and soil reports.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, resolve field conflicts, and stay within project budgets.
- Tech-savvy mindset with proficiency in digital daily reporting and field management software.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- OSHA 30-Hour, CESSWI, or Trenching & Excavation Competent Person certifications.
- Experience with GPS Grade Control Technology including Trimble, Topcon, or Leica systems.
- Track record managing commercial site packages or utility infrastructure projects up to $4M+.
