Assistant Director, Philanthropy Compliance The Assistant Director, Philanthropy Compliance supports the Philanthropy Compliance function within The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center by advancing compliant and reliable execution of philanthropic activities across the organization.The Assistant Director, Philanthropy Compliance serves as a subject matter expert responsible for bridging philanthropy compliance knowledge gaps, clarifying compliance expectations, and embedding High Reliability Organization principles into philanthropic operations.This role maintains visibility into gift processing, donor-restricted funds, conditional match activities, and related financial reporting to support consistent execution and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities Programmatic Project Execution • Deliver consistent execution of compliance-related work with focus on continuous improvement and organizational impact • Interpret compliance requirements related to fundraising, gift acceptance, donor restrictions, conditional match programs, and related philanthropic activities • Identify and analyze compliance knowledge gaps through audits, monitoring results, incident reviews, and operational engagement • Incorporate High Reliability Organization principles into compliance guidance and operational expectations • Develop, maintain, and improve compliance guidance including job aids, reference materials, process documentation, FAQs, and standards • Monitor gift processing and financial reporting for alignment with donor intent, restrictions, and internal policies • Identify, document, and escalate discrepancies or compliance risk indicators • Partner with Philanthropy Finance to support alignment between philanthropic transactions and financial records • Maintain documentation supporting compliance guidance, risk mitigation actions, and improvement initiatives Collaboration and Teams • Partner with Philanthropy, Finance, Legal, and operational teams to ensure guidance reflects real-world workflows and compliance risk areas • Collaborate with the High Reliability Organization function to reflect risk identification, incident trends, and reliability practices in guidance • Engage subject matter experts to validate compliance interpretations and ensure accuracy • Contribute to compliance planning, risk assessments, and process improvement initiatives • Participate in cross-functional projects to support strategy development and execution Stakeholder Engagement • Act as a trusted compliance advisor to philanthropy staff by providing clarity on expectations and operational application • Engage stakeholders to understand operational challenges, emerging risks, and areas of uncertainty • Communicate compliance expectations, updates, and risk considerations clearly and consistently • Promote adoption of compliance resources and reliability practices across the organization • Support a collaborative environment that values professional conduct, respect, and shared accountability EDUCATION
