NDY Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead, Toronto (46)

all cities, VA 46On-sitePosted 8 hours ago
Business Services & Consulting

About the Role

Senior Mechanical Engineer Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for a senior, autonomous Mechanical engineer to establish NDY's presence in Toronto, build client relationships, support the Vancouver office and broader Canadian projects, and ultimately create and lead a new Toronto office.

If you're motivated by technical excellence, empowered leadership, market growth and the chance to shape a business from the ground up, this role is for you.

This role will appeal to someone who wants to build something of their own, with the stability, backing, and brand of a global consultancy behind them.

  • Support the Vancouver team with project delivery while establishing a Toronto client base.
  • Own and grow NDY's Toronto mechanical engineering market, with autonomy to shape strategy, clients, and delivery approach
  • Leverage an existing client network to generate immediate project opportunities and build a sustainable local pipeline
  • Operate with a founder-mindset: combining technical leadership, client development, and team building
  • Be supported by NDY's national and global platform while retaining local market ownership
  • Play a hands-on role in early-stage growth, balancing delivery, business development, and relationship building
  • Lead mechanical design and documentation from concept through to detailed design and construction
  • Act as Project Leader, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring quality, programme and methodology compliance
  • Review technical submissions, support construction delivery, and mentor junior engineers
  • Serve as NDY's Toronto market lead, driving the firm's strategic expansion in the region
  • Develop and nurture local client and industry relationships and identify new business opportunities
  • Track market pipeline, performance and local conditions to inform growth strategy
  • Represent NDY at client meetings, presentations and industry events
  • Build and ultimately lead a high‑performing Toronto‑based engineering team and establish a physical office
  • Commence in a fully remote capacity, with a long‑term mandate to grow NDY's Toronto presence

Entrepreneurial mindset with the resilience and drive to build a market presence from zero

Comfortable combining business development, delivery, and leadership responsibilities in a growth phase

Experience working on commercial tenant improvement projects.

Legally entitled to live and work in Canada.

Senior mechanical engineer with a strong track record in autonomous, leadership driven roles

Tertiary qualification in mechanical Engineering and P.Eng (PEO) accreditation

Strong knowledge of Canadian Standards and NCC

Experience across the full project lifecycle, from design through to construction administration

Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex, multidisciplinary projects

Excellent communication skills, confident managing senior stakeholders and clients

Comfortable operating in ambiguous, startup or growth environment

Experience establishing or growing engineering offices or teams

Multiregional project exposure

Demonstrated capability in business development and market entry

Ideally someone with an existing client network ready to hit the ground running.
