The Field Service Engineer represents Shellback Semiconductor Technology at customer semiconductor fabrication facilities across EMEA. This role supports the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and upgrade of Shellback wet processing platforms, includingPLC-controlled wafer processing systems and their integrated heater assemblies, DI water distribution modules, and safety interlock subsystems.
The position requires direct engagement with customer engineering and production teams to diagnose electrical, electronic, and control-related issues, restore equipment performance, and support stable wafer processing operations.
Travel across EMEA is required and may account for up to 70% of working time, including occasional weekend assignments. International travel to Shellback headquarters may also be required for technical training and certification.
Location: Remote, preferably based in the Netherlands (Amsterdam region) for central access to EMEA travel

The Field Service Engineer operates with urgency and full ownership of assigned customer issues, driving resolution through structured diagnosis, clear communication, and defined action plans.The engineer is accountable for seeing problems through to completion, maintaining transparent and proactive communication with customers and internal teams, and escalating appropriately when required.This role requires adherence to engineering revisions and service updates, accurate and timely submission of service reports and expenses, and disciplined documentation practices consistent with company procedures.
The engineer must work effectively within a team-based global service organization, maintain a valid passport for international travel, and meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds, using hand tools in confined areas, and working in varied physical positions within cleanroom environments.Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate strong electromechanical aptitude with hands-on experience supporting industrial or technical equipment in a field service or maintenance environment.
Experience in semiconductor capital equipment is preferred. Experience in related high-precision industries such as industrial automation, aerospace, military electronics, medical systems, or advanced manufacturing is also highly valued.
