Product Engineer

About Aytza
Aytza is building the future of strategic consulting. We're an AI-native consulting firm that combines deep human expertise with the precision and speed of AI, designed from the ground up for healthcarestartup leaders.
We turn the traditional consulting pyramid on its head: a core AI engine powers our data, analysis, and workflows, with humans in the loop to guide judgment and quality. This allows experienced advisors to support startups in a leaner, faster, and more scalable way. We are post-product and revenue positive, actively serving a fast-growing group of client founders navigating complex, high-stakes decisions across the healthcare landscape.
The Role
We're hiring a Product Engineer to help build the internal products, data workflows, and AI-powered systems behind Aytza's consulting OS.
This is a hands-on role for someone who likes translating messy real-world workflows into reliable software. You will work closely with product and engineering leadership, consultants, and internal users to ship product improvements that make our work faster, more consistent, and more scalable.
You will take on clear product areas end-to-end: understanding the workflow, shaping the right approach with the team, building across the stack where needed, and improving the system through a tight feedback loop.
This is a remote role with the expectation of flexibility to collaborate during East Coast hours and occasional travel for in-person team time. We are a distributed team, but strong real-time collaboration matters at our stage. Note, we cannot sponsor a US work visa.
Where We Are Technically
With the help of AI engineers and expert advisors, we have built a set of core internal-facing products that:
- Follow defined workflows to seek, capture, analyze, deliver, and summarize key data sets that inform strategic decision-making for healthcare companies.
- Utilize best-in-class methodologies to synthesize and produce multi-format outputs to support guided client work.
- Standardize the consulting workflow, including client onboarding, analysis and deliverables creation, and client collateral.
Our current stack includes modern web technologies, AI coding tools, LLM APIs, data pipelines, document processing, and cloud infrastructure. We expect this stack to continue evolving as the product and customer needs evolve.
What You'll Do
- Build and improve product surfaces used by our internal team to run research, analysis, data capture, and client deliverable workflows. Partner with consultants and product leadership to understand user needs, clarify requirements, and ship improvements in tight feedback loops.
- Develop reliable backend workflows for data ingestion, transformation, retrieval, and output generation across messy real-world inputs, including working with LLMs and AI product systems, including prompts, retrieval, structured outputs, evaluation loops, and agentic workflows where appropriate.
- Strengthen the reliability, observability, and usability of the systems our team depends on every day.
- Contribute to and support a rigorous SLDC framework, including debugging, internal, and user QA frameworks
- Contribute to pragmatic technical decisions around architecture, data models, APIs, tooling, and implementation tradeoffs.
- Write clear documentation so the team can understand, maintain, and improve what you build.
- Use AI development tools thoughtfully to increase speed while maintaining strong judgment, code quality, and review discipline.
You'll Bring:
Technical Experience
- 3-6+ years building and shipping production software, ideally in a startup or fast-moving product environment.
- Strong software fundamentals: you can reason through data models, APIs, state, debugging, testing, code quality, user access management and security, and maintainability.
- Comfort building modern web products, especially with TypeScript, React, and modern web frameworks.
- Enough backend fluency to build product features end-to-end, work with databases and APIs, and debug issues beyond the UI.
- Strong AI-native development habits: you use tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools to move faster, but you can still read, reason about, and improve the code yourself.
- Curiosity about LLMs, data workflows, search, retrieval, and document-heavy systems. Direct experience here is a plus, not a requirement.
You'll Stand Out if You Have:
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs or AI-powered products, including tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models.
- Experience with data ingestion, ETL/ELT, document processing, search, or retrieval systems.
- Experience in healthcare, digital health, life sciences, consulting, or data-heavy professional services environments.
- Experience building internal tools, workflow software, research tools, or analytics products.
- Experience working with permissioned data, client data, auditability, or regulated-adjacent workflows.
Why Aytza
This role is different because you will build AI-enabled product infrastructure on a business that is already live, already generating revenue, and already being used every day by a highly skilled internal team. That means no waiting around for user feedback. Our consultants are sophisticated, engaged, and vocal, which creates an exceptionally tight and productive build-learn-iterate loop.
You will work on real problems at the intersection of AI, healthcare, consulting, data, and product design. If you want to ship practical, high-leverage software with a sharp team and a clear user base, this is the right kind of role.
Compensation
Competitive salary commensurate with experience, depending on location and background.
