- Design reactor structures and components from requirements through final design.
- Coordinate inputs from engineering and project teams to develop design solutions.
- Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options and alternatives.
- Interface with team engineering analysis activities and provide design results for reviews.
- Assess technical merit of solutions provided by team members; lead design reviews.
- Interface with equipment suppliers for design and fabrication issue resolution.
- Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices.
Qualifications: - B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 4 years equipment/component design experience; M.S. degree counts as 2 years experience.
- Working experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III.
- Experience writing design specifications and engineering design reports.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Hands-on experience with finite element stress analysis and ANSYS or equivalent commercial tools.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; creative thinker.
- Ability to work with minimal direction on challenging problems.
- Familiarity with CAD tools; SolidWorks preferred.
Nice to Have: - Experience with slewing ring bearings or comparable rotating equipment.
- Experience with elastomeric seal design and specification.
- Background in seismic design or pressure vessel design.
