Board And Senior, Manufacturing & Engineering US$250000 - US$300000 per annum Bonus Excellent Blue Chip Benefits Location: UK , Europe (EU) , Denmark , Germany , Italy , Netherlands , Switzerland , North America , Canada , United States , Central & South America , Remote Head of Engineering - Power Electronics (Megawatt-Scale Systems) Location: Remote (Global) | Travel: International (Periodic) Compensation: Executive-Level Package (c.$250K-$300K Total Comp Incentives) Build a Platform. Not Just a Function.
We are engaged by a highly ambitious, well-funded technology organisation headquartered in Asia, currently scaling its advanced power electronics capability for global deployment. This is a rare opportunity to take a validated megawatt-scale power conversion platform and lead its transformation into a fully certified, commercially deployed product line within a defined 18-24-month horizon. This is not a maintenance role.It is a build-and-deliver mandate with full ownership, board visibility, and long-term strategic impact.
The Opportunity You will lead the end-to-end development and industrialisation of medium-voltage, megawatt-scale converter and charging systems, deployed in containerised formats for:
- Heavy-duty electric vehicle charging infrastructure
- Port and marine electrification
- Industrial and grid-integrated energy systems
- Renewable energy integration
The platform is already prototyped and technically validated. The next phase requires expert leadership to productise, certify, and scale globally.
Why This Role Is Different - You will own a full product platform, not a subsystem
- You will move from prototype to certified commercial deployment
- You will operate with direct influence at senior leadership level
- You will help define a global product strategy in a high-growth electrification market
Market Context Global electrification of transport, industry, and energy systems is driving rapid demand for high-power conversion, megawatt charging, and grid-integrated infrastructure, creating significant opportunity for innovative platforms and new market entrants.
Your Mandate - Take full ownership of system architecture from grid input (MV AC) through to high-voltage DC output
- Lead productisation: prototype to design freeze to certification and deployment
- Drive compliance with international standards (IEC, EMC, grid codes, CE/UL)
- Establish test, validation, and certification frameworks
- Build and scale a high-performance, multi-disciplinary engineering team
- Define and implement manufacturing and supplier strategies
- Deliver pilot deployments and transition to commercial orders
- Engage directly with senior leadership and board stakeholders
What Success Looks Like (18-24 Months) - A fully certified, standards-compliant MW-scale power electronics platform
- Successful pilot deployments with validated real-world performance
- Transition from prototype to scalable, manufacturable product
- Initial commercial orders and a repeatable delivery capability
What We Are Looking For We are seeking senior engineering leaders currently operating within power electronics, electrification, EV charging infrastructure, or energy systems environments, particularly across the US and Europe.
You will bring:
- Proven experience delivering MW-scale power electronics systems (250 kW to multi-MW)
- A demonstrable track record of taking products from design certification commercial deployment
- Deep expertise in:
- AC/DC and DC/DC converter systems
- Medium-voltage (MV) systems and protection
- Thermal design, EMC/EMI, harmonics and control strategies
- Strong experience with international standards and certification processes
- System-level thinking across electrical, mechanical, and control domains
- Leadership experience in multi-disciplinary and distributed teams
Ideal Background Candidates are likely to be currently operating as:
- Head / Director of Power Electronics
- Director / VP Engineering (Electrification / Energy Systems)
- Chief Engineer - Power Conversion Systems
- Head of Converter / Charging Systems
Within organisations such as:
- Power electronics manufacturers
- EV charging infrastructure providers
- Renewable energy / grid technology companies
- Industrial electrification or marine power systems
Who This Role Will Suit - Individuals motivated by building and delivering complex systems, not maintaining existing ones
- Engineers who want to own full lifecycle delivery, from concept to market
- Leaders comfortable operating in high-impact, fast-evolving environments
- Those seeking a career-defining platform opportunity, rather than incremental progression
This Role Is Unlikely to Suit Individuals Who - Have only worked on component-level or subsystem design without full system ownership
- Have not been involved in product certification or standards compliance
- Prefer highly structured, low-risk corporate environments
- Are seeking purely operational or maintenance-focused leadership roles
Why This Role - Define a global product platform in a high-growth electrification sector
- Operate with high autonomy and real technical ownership
- Work on mission-critical infrastructure enabling energy transition
- Engage at board level with strategic influence
- Be part of a scaling organisation with long-term growth trajectory
Important Considerations This role suits individuals motivated by building, transforming, and delivering complex systems, rather than operating within established structures.
The environment combines technical challenge, pace, and global collaboration, with regular engagement across international teams and periodic travel to engineering and operational sites.
