About the Role
SALESFORCE CTO Project: Salesforce Center of Excellence (COE) Stand-Up Engagement Model: Outcome-based advisory services (non-configuration heavy) Duration: 1-year contract with potential extension Work Location: Primarily virtual Hours: Standard business hours (8:30am-5:30pm) Experience: 10+ Years Preferred: CTA, Application Architect, System Architect, Multi-cloud Certifications
Role Overview The Salesforce CTO will act as the strategic architecture authority for NYS ITS' Salesforce ecosystem. This role provides executive-level advisory oversight, architecture guardrails, governance frameworks, and platform standardization across agencies. This role is strategic, not hands-on configuration heavy.
Core Responsibilities • Advise on Salesforce organizational structure and governance model • Define enterprise data architecture and reusable data models • Establish architecture guardrails and reusable design patterns • Develop security accreditation framework for ATO process • Define platform ATO baseline controls • Create inheritance models for application-level security • Establish continuous compliance monitoring frameworks • Define coding standards and review guidelines • Develop prioritized Salesforce roadmap
Provide prototype/demos for: • Licensing & Permitting • Benefit Management • Investigative Case Management • OmniChannel Contact Centers
Advise on DevOps maturity strategy including: • CI/CD documentation • Identity management integration • RBAC design • Deployment governance • Provisioning templates • Provide architecture review and risk assessment feedback • Define config vs code rubric • Recommend alternative architecture approaches • Guide COE establishment and governance maturity
Required Experience • 10+ years managing Salesforce platforms • 5+ years leading multi-cloud programs • 5+ years architecture governance and design patterns • 5+ years lifecycle governance and demand intake • 3+ years hands-on admin experience • Experience designing reusable enterprise components
