About the Role

Adjunct, Political Science

Saint Joseph's University's Department of Political Science has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. We are looking for the support of highly qualified, capable, and experienced adjunct instructors. Presently, we have a specific need for faculty to teach within the field of American Politics, International Relations/Global Politics, Comparative Politics, and Political Theory.

Part-time adjunct faculty may teach 1 or 2 courses per semester on an as-needed basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are typically offered during the daytime and may include:

  • Introduction to American Politics
  • Introduction to Comparative Politics
  • Introduction to Global Politics
  • Introduction to Political Theory
  • Special topics courses in the above areas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to students
  • Instruct an assigned course providing syllabi and other instructional materials
  • Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction
  • Grade reporting and assessment
  • In addition to meeting all scheduled class session, adjunct faculty are expected to offer two hours of office hours each week.

Minimum Requirements: Master's Degree in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related field. Previous teaching/training experience.

Preferred Qualifications: ABD or PhD in Political Science, International Relations, or closely related field. Willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.

Physical & Other Requirements:

  • May require standing for long periods of time
  • May require talking for long periods of time
  • May require carrying course materials

Modality:

  • Fully online OR in-person only
