Program Manager (Business Area Director)
The mission of the U.S.Department of Housing and Urban Development is to foster strong communities by supporting access to quality, affordable housing, expanding the housing supply, and unlocking homeownership opportunities for the American people.The Department is committed to furthering the promise of self-sufficiency in every American while promoting economic development to revitalize rural, tribal, and urban communities across the country.This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH).
PIH's mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and homeownership.PIH oversees the administration of HUD's Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees.The field structure for PIH consists of 29 Hub Offices and 16 Program Centers that provide oversight, direct monitoring, and coordination for approximately 4,200 public housing authorities.
The duty station for this position will be a home-based worksite or other non-HUD owned space anywhere within the 50 mile commuting area of any one of the 3 duty locations posted.See the additional information section for more details.
As a Program Manager (Business Area Director), you will:
Develop metrics, performs risk assessments and establishes risk mitigation and management plans.
Establish guidelines for day-to-day operations in the assigned program area.
Manage a staff of technical and/or administrative personnel, including contractors, to accomplish work objectives.
Serve as business area manager and technical expert on matters concerning the business area.
