Mechanical Engineer

Location: Remote

Client: Client

Work Experience: 5+ years

Work Location: Remote (Occasional Travel to Canada, once a while as per client needs)

Prefer domain: Power/ Energy/ Hydro

Please note: Hydro, Designing of tools for turbines, Lifting Equipment experience is a must.

Work Experience: 5+ years

Work Location: Brossard, QC/ Mississauga/ Remote – Candidate will need to travel to Client Brossard as required.

Mandatory Proficiency: Mechanical design of Hydro Generators, CAD software NX OR SolidWorks, Hydro Powerplant

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experience

Job Description Summary

The Tooling Main Project Engineer will join the Tooling team within Engineering department, who is responsible for technical studies and design of tools for transportation and erection of main pieces of equipment constituting a hydropower plant (embedded parts, turbine, generator, valves and hydromechanical). He/She will be specifically in charge of project execution for already awarded projects in North America region

Job Description

For a given project in execution, he/she will perform the calculation and the design of the tools according to the COE's Design Practices and with the validation of the tooling principal engineer. - Represent the Tooling Center of Excellence (COE) in front of the Project Team: Generator System Integrator, Generator COE main project engineers, Supply Chain and Construction & Commissioning - Coordinate within the Tooling COE the calculation and design of the full list of tools identified during synopsis phase (detailed transportation & erection sequence of the power plant) – fulfilling planning, cost, and safety requirement

Required Qualifications/Characteristics
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Significant experience (>5 years) in mechanical design of hydro generators
  • Experience in design of lifting equipment and access platform or significant experience on site
  • Good knowledge of CAD software NX or SolidWorks
  • Excellent written & verbal English skills for international communications
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional and global teams
  • Strong people skills, proven leadership skills and a positive energy
Desired Characteristics

Knowledge of Hydropower Plant products

Experience on project management

Team-player: positive & engaged contributor to the team, willingness to learn & adapt to business needs; be resilient
