About the Role
Mechanical Engineering AI Trainer
We're looking for mechanical engineers to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models being developed by the world's leading AI research labs. Your deep technical expertise will directly shape how AI reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics to structural mechanics.
This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced engineering and frontier AI, entirely on your own schedule.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Complex Engineering Problems — Create advanced, multi-step challenges across domains like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science to rigorously stress-test AI performance
Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that guide AI learning and set the standard for engineering reasoning
Audit Technical Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated results including CAD logic, thermodynamic derivations, and material specifications for accuracy, physical validity, and adherence to engineering standards (ASME, ISO, etc.)
Refine AI Reasoning — Identify flaws in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or improper boundary conditions — and deliver structured feedback that improves model performance
Who You Are
Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline
Strong foundational knowledge across core ME domains: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
Able to communicate complex physical concepts and mathematical reasoning clearly in written form
Meticulous attention to detail — especially when reviewing derivations, unit analysis, and system constraints
No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or technical writing
Hands-on proficiency with engineering tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB
Familiarity with engineering simulation workflows or AI-generated code review
Why Join Us
Work on some of the most advanced AI models being built today
Fully remote and async — work when and where it suits you
Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
Collaborate with a global network of domain experts and AI researchers
Ongoing contract potential as projects grow and expand
