The role is well-suited for candidates currently supporting central sponsored programs, research finance, or grants management offices who are experienced in managing institution-wide research portfolios and partnering with investigators, departments, and compliance teams.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Research Operations, this position oversees abroad range of responsibilities related to sponsored program financial reporting and activity management.
This role manages complex sponsored program financial activities, including high-level reporting, compliance monitoring, and process optimization. The position serves as a subject matter expert for Lawson and other financial systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in research finance workflows. The position focuses on internal financial operations and strategic improvements and requires attention to detail, willingness to learn Baystate Medical Center (BMC) financial systems such as Lawson and collaborate with internal departments to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
Job Requirements:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
Required Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in sponsored programs or grants administration.
Strong knowledge of Lawson financial systems and Grants Management modules highly preferred.
Preferred Experience: Prior experience with audit preparation and compliance reviews
Extensive experience in research finance, sponsored programs, or grant administration

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
