About the Role
Job Title: Payroll Tax Filing Money Movement Analyst Duration: 03 Months (Possibility of Extension) Location: Remote
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-driven Payroll Tax Filing Money Movement Analyst to join our Tax Filing Shared Services (TFSS) organization.
This role is critical to ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of payroll tax funding, deposit execution, and reconciliation activities across multiple jurisdictions and client accounts.
As part of a centralized TFSS model, you will support end-to-end back office tax money movement processes, mitigate funding risk, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local deposit requirements, and partner cross-functionally with Tax Filing, Notice Resolution, Client Delivery, and Payroll teams.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Funding & Money Movement Execution
Execute daily payroll tax deposit funding activities across federal, state, and local jurisdictions
Review and validate funding requests to ensure alignment with payroll tax liability data
Process ACH, EFT, wire, and check payments via secure SFTP and banking platforms
Monitor deposit confirmations and validate timely settlement of funds
Perform daily balancing and reconciliation of funding and clearing accounts
Review EFT registrations and configurations to ensure proper electronic payment setup
Reconciliation & Risk Mitigation
Investigate and resolve funding discrepancies, rejected payments, and return items
Identify root causes of deposit variances and implement corrective actions
Escalate potential funding risks, missed deadlines, or compliance exposures promptly
Support internal audit controls and documentation requirements
Maintain strong segregation of duties and financial control standards
Systems & Process Management
Support configuration, testing, and maintenance of tax filing systems (including APTM where applicable)
Partner with technology teams during system upgrades and enhancements
Participate in client onboarding and implementation funding readiness assessments
Maintain and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual intervention and operational risk
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Tax Filing teams to validate liabilities prior to deposit execution
Coordinate with Notice Resolution on deposit-related inquiries and penalty mitigation
Support Client Delivery with funding health reporting and issue resolution
Contribute to recurring client health reporting (Funding Status, Open Issues, Risk Indicators)
Qualifications
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Preferred Certifications
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) - Preferred
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) - a plus
Experience
2-4 years of experience in payroll tax funding, tax filing shared services, banking operations, or treasury operations
Experience working within a high-volume, multi-jurisdiction payroll tax environment
Experience with MasterTax or similar enterprise tax filing platforms - a plus
Technical Skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, reconciliation modeling)
Experience working with SFTP, ACH processing, and banking portals
Strong understanding of EFTPS and state electronic tax deposit systems
Familiarity with SOX controls and audit documentation practices preferred
