About the Role

Tax Analyst

Join Hire Hangar and work with fast-growing global companies while building a long-term, remote career.

Location: Remote

Time Zone: EST (Eastern Standard Time) – Strictly Required

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Tax Analyst to lead US tax compliance, planning, and advisory functions for our growing organization. This is a high-impact role requiring deep expertise in federal and multi-state US tax law. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong technical foundation, capable of managing complex tax matters while ensuring compliance in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of US federal, state, and local tax compliance, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax filings
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position
  • Provide expert guidance on the tax implications of business decisions, transactions, and corporate structures
  • Lead the tax provision process (ASC 740) and coordinate with external auditors during financial reviews
  • Monitor and interpret changes in US tax legislation and assess the impact on business operations
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and regulatory agencies
  • Oversee and respond to federal and state tax audits, notices, and inquiries
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and executive leadership to support M&A, restructuring, and strategic business initiatives
  • Build, mentor, and develop junior tax team members

Required Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of US federal, state, and local tax law — non-negotiable
  • Demonstrated experience managing tax compliance and planning in a corporate or public accounting environment
  • Hands-on experience with ASC 740 income tax provision and reporting
  • CPA designation required; advanced degree in Taxation or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication; must be comfortable advising and presenting to executive stakeholders
  • Must have prior remote work experience, be proficient with remote collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, or similar), and have worked with US-based companies. Applications without this experience will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-state corporate structure
  • Exposure to international tax matters and transfer pricing
  • Background in supporting tax diligence for M&A transactions
  • Experience with tax technology platforms (e.g., Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, Vertex, or similar)

Tools & Technology:

  • Tax compliance and research software (e.g., Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg Tax)
  • ERP and accounting platforms (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP)
  • Google Workspace
  • Slack, Zoom, and other remote collaboration tools

Please NOTE: It is crucial that you complete the application form in full. As part of the application process, you will be required to record a video. If your application is successful, you will receive an email confirming next steps—the video is the first step of the interview process. If you do not record a video, we will not be able to consider you for ANY open roles.

We connect top talent with vetted employers, competitive pay, and real growth opportunities.
