About the Role

Job Title

Responsible for directing the work of the subordinate employees and/or managers for multiple organizational units/projects/programs within the organization. Duties typically include planning; communicating the organization's vision and objectives; setting priorities; assigningtasks and responsibilities; monitoring and evaluating performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; approving leave; and taking, recommending, or approving corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate.

Responsible for programming, executing, and supervising engineering design, construction, installation and/or ongoing engineering support of facilities, systems and technical policies and procedures in the NAS. Exercises broadly delegated authority for planning, directing, coordinating, administrating and executing many routine and complex projects/programs. Manages multiple subordinate organizations consisting of engineers and other technical and administrative personnel.

Works with other employees and managers within Engineering Services and those in the Air Traffic Organization at all levels to discuss project/program status and future plans for the NAS. External contacts include state and local government organizations, major contract organizations and aviation interest groups.

Defines, plans, and organizes assigned budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish objectives for multiple organizational units/projects/programs. Manages budget, and either reallocates resources among organizational units/projects/programs or request additional resources, as needed. Performs critical aspects of the budget planning process, including projecting short-term and long-term future needs and justifying resource requirements.

Applies an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, an advanced knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures, and an advanced understanding of the objectives of the organization.

Supports the NAS by providing capital improvements, life-cycle support, restoration assistance, system integration, and engineering, consulting and advisory services for facilities and systems within the National Airspace System.

Reports directly to the Manager, Engineering Services.
