About the Role

Director, Strategy & Business Development

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Strategy & Business Development based in the United States.

This is a highly strategic, high-impact leadership role focused on shaping the growth and inorganic expansion of a global technology and industrial portfolio operating at scale.You will work at the intersection of corporate strategy, M&A, and business development, partnering directly with senior executives across multiple operating companies.The role combines deep market intelligence, deal execution, and strategic planning to identify and unlock new growth opportunities.You will lead end-to-end M&A and strategic initiatives, from market assessment through acquisition execution and integration support.

Operating in a fast-paced, globally connected environment, you will influence key investment decisions and help define long-term portfolio direction.This is a highly visible position with direct exposure to executive leadership and enterprise-level transformation initiatives.

Accountabilities

This role is responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives and M&A execution across a multi-business global portfolio, acting as a key partner to executive leadership and corporate development teams. You will lead market analysis, investment evaluation, and acquisition strategy while ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.

  • Develop and execute strategic and inorganic growth initiatives, including market expansion and acquisition strategies across priority domains.
  • Lead end-to-end M&A activities, including target identification, due diligence, valuation support, and deal execution.
  • Conduct deep market research and competitive analysis to identify adjacent and non-adjacent growth opportunities.
  • Build and manage a structured acquisition pipeline, supporting prioritization and executive decision-making.
  • Partner with corporate development, operating companies, and leadership teams to align strategy and execution.
  • Facilitate strategic planning discussions and contribute to portfolio-level decision-making.
  • Translate complex market and financial insights into clear recommendations for executive stakeholders.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of top-tier consulting and hands-on M&A experience, with the ability to operate confidently in complex, global environments. You are highly analytical, commercially minded, and comfortable influencing senior stakeholders across diverse business units.

  • 7+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, corporate development, or private equity/M&A roles.
  • Proven track record in market assessment and evaluating strategic fit across new businesses or sectors.
  • Significant hands-on M&A due diligence experience (multiple executed transactions required).
  • Strong background in software, SaaS, cloud, AI, or industrial/technology sectors preferred.
  • Advanced ability to synthesize complex data into executive-level insights and recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across senior leadership.
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA from a top-tier institution strongly preferred.
