We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager with strong experience in data engineering, migration, and transformation projects primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Youll lead a team of engineers and architects responsible for delivering high-impact data solutions, while also driving solution design, architecture reviews, and delivery excellence across multiple data programs.
This is a techno-managerial role ideal for someone who enjoys both leading teams and getting into the details of architecture and solution design.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Delivery Management
Lead a team of data engineers, developers, and analysts working across multiple client data initiatives.
Drive project planning, execution, and delivery for data migration, transformation, and modernization projects.
Own sprint planning, backlog management, and delivery governance.
Ensure high team productivity, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
Coach, mentor, and grow the team focusing on career paths, skill development, and performance.
Partner with client stakeholders, product owners, and business leads to translate requirements into technical roadmaps.
Solutioning & Technical Leadership
Provide end-to-end solution design for GCP-based data projects including data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration layers.
Review and optimize data pipelines, ETL workflows, and architecture for scalability, performance, and cost.
Collaborate with architects to define data models, data lake/warehouse architectures, and integration patterns.
Evaluate and recommend suitable GCP services and frameworks (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer, Dataproc, Looker, etc.).
Drive automation, CI/CD for data pipelines, and data quality frameworks.
Contribute to pre-sales and solutioning for new opportunities (effort estimation, architecture diagrams, SOW inputs, etc.).
Must-Have Skills & Experience
1014 years of total experience with 46 years in data engineering or analytics platforms.
Hands-on exposure to Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataproc, etc.).
Proven experience managing end-to-end delivery of data migration and transformation projects.
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
Proficiency with Python, SQL, and one of the orchestration tools (Airflow, Composer, Dataform, etc.).
Experience leading agile teams, managing deliverables, and ensuring delivery predictability.
Prior experience in solutioning, technical proposal creation, and client-facing architecture discussions.
Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and version control (Git, Cloud Build, etc.) for data pipelines.
Good-to-Have Skills
Certification in GCP Data Engineer or GCP Cloud Architect.
Exposure to multi-cloud (AWS/Azure) data stack.
Understanding of DataOps / MLOps pipelines.
Familiarity with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code for GCP resources.
Working experience with Looker / Tableau / Power BI for reporting.
Soft Skills
