We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Territory Operations Director, RN to lead a high-performing hospice team serving the Lombard, IL market. This is a mission-driven leadership opportunity where you will oversee more than 100 healthcare professionals delivering end-of-life care across both home health and inpatient hospice settings.
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring patients and families receive dignified, compassionate care during one of life's most meaningful journeys—while also driving operational excellence across the region.
This is typically an 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM leadership role. The position is approximately 90% in-office, with the remaining time spent in the field supporting both clinical and operational teams as needed. This role requires a leader who is comfortable working across both operations and clinical functions, in both office and field settings.
Candidates must be comfortable stepping into the field when necessary, responding to occasional calls or emergencies outside of standard hours, and demonstrating a strong team-player, hands-on leadership mentality.
What You'll Do
Oversee full Branch operations, including home-based hospice care and inpatient hospice services
Lead and support 100+ clinical and operational team members across the market
Act as a business operations expert, leveraging hands-on P&L management, census (400+), and staffing data to guide decision-making
Drive culture and engagement initiatives to ensure a positive, supportive team environment
Provide hands-on leadership across both clinical and operational functions, supporting teams in the office and in the field as needed
Conduct back-to-bedside visits to stay closely connected to field staff and patient care experience
Partner with Hospice Care Consultants and clinical leaders to strengthen referral relationships
Serve as a community ambassador, promoting trust and excellence in hospice services
Review operational reports and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality of care
What We're Looking For
Active Illinois RN license required
Prior home health or hospice leadership experience required
Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory/administrative experience in home health, hospice, or related healthcare setting
Strong experience managing a total census of 400+ patients required
Strong hands-on P&L management experience required in a healthcare or operational leadership setting
Experience leading large teams and multi-site or large Branch operations
Strong background in healthcare business operations (P&L, staffing, census, budgeting, and performance management)
Valid driver's license, reliable insured vehicle, and willingness to travel throughout the territory
Comfortable with a hands-on, team-first leadership approach across both clinical and operational environments
