Project Manager – Readiness & Operations Transition
This 12-month contract role focuses on project readiness, transition execution, and operational handoff support for new solar and battery storage projects across the West and Central regions of the United States. The Project Manager– Readiness & Operations Transition ensures that renewable energy assets are fully prepared for safe, compliant, and efficient entry into operations. The position is remote with up to 50% travel, and is ideal for a self-driven professional with strong project management experience in solar or battery energy storage systems.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute readiness and transition activities across multiple renewable energy projects, ensuring smooth movement from construction to operations.
- Support day-to-day transition processes to drive timely and efficient project completion and operational handoff.
- Develop and maintain detailed project work plans, schedules, resource plans, and status reports to keep stakeholders informed and aligned.
- Track progress against key milestones, identify variances, and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and project teams.
- Identify project risks and issues, validate outcomes, and implement corrective actions to maintain safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including project managers, operations teams, and vendors, to support project execution and operational handover.
- Ensure projects meet operational readiness standards, including safety, regulatory compliance, and technical requirements prior to entering operations.
- Support site onboarding processes and readiness reviews to confirm that each site is prepared for operational acceptance.
- Track and drive closure of punch lists, action items, and outstanding deliverables to eliminate open issues before operational start-up.
- Assist with procurement coordination and equipment readiness, ensuring that materials and assets are available and prepared as needed.
- Facilitate project meetings and readiness discussions to maintain alignment, clarify expectations, and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare and deliver clear presentations and status updates for internal stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, operations teams, and vendors to ensure consistent communication and alignment throughout the transition lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all readiness and transition activities, ensuring traceability and transparency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to readiness and transition execution, contributing to more efficient future project launches.
- Conduct external research and stay informed on renewable energy trends and industry best practices to enhance processes and outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and timely delivery in all aspects of the role.
Essential Skills
- 4–10 years of project management experience, ideally within solar or battery energy storage projects.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in project coordination, project management, operations, or renewable energy environments.
- Experience with solar projects or battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute complex, multi-site project transitions and operational handoffs.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to present status updates and facilitate meetings with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven stakeholder coordination capabilities, working with project managers, operations teams, and vendors.
- Self-driven work style with a strong focus on execution, accountability, and follow-through.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience in renewable energy, power generation, or battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Experience supporting multi-site or geographically distributed projects.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies such as PMP or Six Sigma Green Belt, or related certifications.
- Ability to conduct external research and apply industry best practices to readiness and transition processes.
Work Environment
This is a remote position that requires travel to project sites up to approximately 50% of the time, primarily across the West and Central regions of the United States.Work is performed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on the launch and operational readiness of solar and battery storage assets.The role involves regular collaboration with geographically dispersed teams, virtual meetings, and on-site visits to renewable energy facilities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $52.00/hr.
