About the Role

Engineering Manager

Clinical Ink is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Engineering Team based across the United States.In this role, you will be responsible for leading and delivering all custom continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) study builds across mobile, backend, and data platforms.This role serves as the single point of accountability for study execution - owning the schedule, staffing, technical execution, and delivery quality from requirements definition through study release.

This role manages cross-functional, matrixed teams comprised of mobile engineers, backend engineers, data engineers, and business analysts who work directly with customers to define and refine study requirements.The Engineering Manager must bring strong technical credibility, exceptional project and resource management discipline, and the ability to translate customer requirements into executable engineering plans.The Engineering Manager's responsibilities include:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of custom continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) study builds, from requirements intake through release.
  • Develop and maintain delivery plans that clearly define scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, and resource needs.
  • Manage engineering capacity across multiple concurrent studies, balancing timelines, quality, and team health.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across mobile, backend, and data engineering efforts.
  • Partner closely with Business Analysts to translate customer requirements into executable technical scope and delivery plans.
  • Proactively identify and resolve delivery risks, cross-team dependencies, and technical blockers.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for delivery and execution issues.
  • Ensure study builds follow internal SDLC standards, SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly on delivery status, risks, and progress to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor engineers and delivery leads, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, technical delivery, or engineering management.
  • Strong technical foundation across modern software systems (mobile, backend services, APIs, data pipelines).
  • Proven experience delivering complex, custom software projects with fixed timelines and customer commitments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engineering resources and conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience delivering customer-specific or study-based software solutions preferred.
  • Experience in regulated or quality-controlled environments preferred.
  • Prior people management experience leading engineers or cross-functional technical teams preferred.
