About the Role

TKO Buying: Digital Planning Director

We are seeking a Digital Planning Director to lead strategy, planning, and execution of digital media campaigns across paid channels.This role combines high-level strategic leadership with hands-on oversight, translating campaign objectives into data-driven digital strategies.The Digital Planning Director will be responsible for setting digital strategy across the client portfolio and overseeing the execution of that strategy in close collaboration with the digital team.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced campaign environment, brings deep expertise in the political digital ecosystem, and can think strategically while managing complex, multi-platform media buys.

Responsibilities include:

Media Strategy & Buying

  • Lead overall strategy for cross-channel digital media planning that integrates video (including CTV/OTT), social, search, display, and emerging platforms to achieve campaign objectives.
  • Translate voter data and polling insights into innovative and actionable audience segments that efficiently reach our targets.
  • Oversee the execution of strategic budget allocations and flighting across multiple channels for all campaigns.

Campaign Management

  • Manage and refine internal procedures to meet client deadlines and execute campaigns effectively.
  • Supervise weekly budget management of multiple campaigns running simultaneously.
  • Coordinate across the department to manage campaign performance and reporting.

Client-Facing Responsibilities

  • Partner with account leads to define client needs and execute them as a team leader.
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for assigned clients, providing updates, performance summaries, and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop and present media plans in client meetings and internal reviews.

Qualifications include:

  • 6+ years preferred of hands-on experience in digital media planning and buying, ideally within political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or digital agencies.

  • 1+ years preferred in a team lead or mentorship role

  • Management of media planning, from brief to budgeting, for large multi-channel campaigns.

  • Hands-on experience with buying platforms such as Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, YouTube, and major DSPs, preferably The Trade Desk.

  • Demonstrated success turning voter data, polling, and analytics into actionable media strategies. Experience integrating voter file data (e.g., TargetSmart, Catalist, Civis) into media targeting strategies.
