Job Description

SGS helps to improve health & safety, enhance quality, support sustainable development, improve margins, and protect brands. SGS Consultants/Trainers have the industry and business expertise toperform training and advisory services for chosen criteria, code of practice and regulations. The successful candidate will have experience in the environmental field and will be able to immediately relay the subject matter to both novices and experts.
  • Deliver instructor-led seminars and on-site training programs on environmental and safety regulations.
  • Maintain and update training materials (presentations, manuals, and course content).
  • Conduct environmental compliance audits and inspections.
  • Support permitting activities and regulatory compliance projects.
  • Assist in business development and development of new training offerings.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and exceed client expectations.
  • Develop computer-based training modules for existing and new regulatory requirements.
  • Develop customer-specific computer-based training materials.
  • Perform services as assigned for internal and external clients in area of expertise.
  • Be a resource to external and internal customers.
  • Follow up with class attendees to facilitate the development of new business and improve classes.
  • Develop business relations with customers and customer profiles that identify specific situations, strategies, and plans.
  • Develop added value strategies for each customer.
  • Recommend and develop new seminars and services based on customer requirements and market opportunities.
  • Market services and products, develop and maintain client target lists.
  • Present both public and private seminars on-site and via webcast. Respond to student questions via phone, email, and chat.
  • Remain current with services, products, and legal, technical, and regulatory developments
  • Research new regulations, services, and products
  • Evaluate services and products.
  • Coordinate and perform seminar activities related to any new regulatory requirements, including developing new material and slides.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, chemistry or related science
  • 5+ years of professional experience in the environmental field
  • 2 years of experience in environmental compliance
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training to both technical and non-technical audiences
Subject Matter Expertise Areas
  • RCRA hazardous waste regulations
  • DOT hazardous materials transportation regulations
  • Preferred additional expertise:
    • IATA / IMO transportation regulations
    • Clean Water Act (CWA) and Clean Air Act (CAA)
    • OSHA General Industry and HAZWOPER
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of the implementation and interpretations of environmental, health, and safety, or transportation regulations.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods and media.
  • Able to present long presentations at a hotel or customer's site (i.e., up to several hours and potentially several consecutive days)
  • Able to conduct training programs via webcast using WebEx, Zoom, or client platforms
  • Able to conduct on-site audits virtually or live at potential hazardous locations
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as a team member
Travel
  • Up to 75% of travel, including domestic and occasional international travel.
  • Typical travel includes 7-10 days per month for training delivery and audits.
  • Weekend travel may be required depending on scheduling needs.
Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 - $91,000 annually. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
