About the Role

Job Description

Open ended contract position, 100% remote, paying $90-130/hr, based on experience.

Work 9/80 schedule so you have every other Friday off.

This position is in support of the leading SMR, finalizing design. The position entails using ANSYS to dostructural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures.

Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in structural engineering, PE preferred
  • 8+ years of current experience in the commercial nuclear industry as a structural design engineer
  • Expertise with ANSYS
  • Design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, use of design software and finite element analyses.
  • Working with the following codes preferred: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Design Manual.
  • Computer programing skills (e.g. Matlab, or Python) is not required, but preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc).
  • Conducting analysis (using ANSYS), developing complex calcs, specs.
  • Interacts with other disciplines, coordinating design activities and resolution of technical problems.
  • Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies.
  • Lead the oversight of suppliers and review technical information (i.e. drawings, reports, specifications, calculations, etc.) to ensure it aligns with statements of work and requirements documents.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills and routinely interacts with contractors and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Provide mentorship to more junior team members. May be asked to take the lead in technical issues as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
