About the Role
Domestic Tax Compliance Specialist
Primary responsibilities include supporting the domestic tax function including sales/use and income/franchise tax compliance, researching domestic tax issues, and tax department projects for multiple legal entities doing business in multiple states.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain company sales tax compliance calendar
File sales/use tax returns to multiple states
Assist with sales/use tax accrual reconciliations
Assist with gathering documentation for federal and state income tax filings
Perform tax research to determine appropriate tax treatment of transactions
Follow up on tax notices from state departments of revenue
Prepare state tax registrations
Assist with documentation requests from state and local tax auditors
Assist with quarterly estimated income tax payments
Various projects associated with tax compliance, audits, and planning
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
1-3 years of experience in public accounting or industry tax department
Experience with multi-state sales/use tax compliance
Familiar with state income tax compliance and apportionment
Experience with ERP systems, Sage 100 a plus
Experience with Avalara preferred
Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, primarily Excel
Ability to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently while working remotely
Ability to work within tight deadlines
Physical Demands:
Involves sitting at a desk and/or driving for extended periods of time
Involves lifting up to 20 lbs
Ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly
Ability to travel domestically
