This role offers the opportunity to work on utility-scale renewable energy projects including wind, solar, and battery storage facilities , helping connect new generation resources to the electrical grid.The position is 100% remote , allowing engineers to work from anywhere in the United States while collaborating with an experienced team of power delivery professionals.Responsibilities
- Support the engineering and design of collector substations and renewable interconnection facilities
- Develop and review:
- One-line diagrams
- Three-line diagrams
- Physical substation layouts
- Grounding plans
- Equipment arrangements
- Assist with equipment selection and specifications for:
- Power transformers
- Circuit breakers
- Disconnect switches
- Protective relaying systems
- Coordinate with transmission line, civil, structural, and protection & control teams
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction packages
- Participate in project meetings and client discussions
- Support construction, commissioning, and field engineering activities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of substation engineering experience
- Experience supporting:
- Utility substations
- Collector substations
- Renewable interconnection projects
- Familiarity with utility standards and substation design practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a remote engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wind, solar, or battery energy storage projects
- Exposure to:
- Physical substation design
- Protection & Control concepts
- Relay coordination
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
