Account Manager - Retail Channel LHH Recruitment Solutions is working with a well-established manufacturer of popular CPG brands sold in various retail channels across the U.S. In business for over 50 years, we are looking to hire an Account Manager with a minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, ideally selling in the CPG sector. In this role, you'll be responsible with driving sales and growth within the retail channel, managing key accounts, executing strategic sales plans, and building relationships with retailers and distributors. As the primary point of contact for accounts, you'll be tasked with ensuring product placement, competitive positioning, and impactful category management and merchandising.
Desired Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of professional sales or account management experience, ideally in consumer product goods
- Documented success of meeting & exceeding sales targets
- Experience with CRM software and sales reporting tools (SAP & Tableau preferred)
- Highly motivated, self-starter with strong communication and negotiation skills; able to build long-term relationships
Travel Requirements - Able to travel up to 40% to visit key accounts and attend industry events
Responsibilities - Develop/manager relationships with key accounts, identifying customer needs and tailoring a solution that will drive sales & profitability
- Develop/implement sales strategies for your channel that increase revenue, expand market share, and hit sales targets.
- Identify opportunities for growth and be proactive in maximizing performance within your channel
- Identify/pursue new business opportunities within your channel, leveraging your industry knowledge and competitor insights
- Secure suitable placement of products within retail locations; work with category managers & buyers to guarantee effective product performance, promotions, and in-store activations
- Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing issues, inquiries or concerns; proactively communicating with internal/external resources to quickly and effectively problem-solve to efficiently maintain positive relationships
- Track & report sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity; use data to forecast sales, plan promotional efforts, and adjust strategies as needed
- Work closely across teams (marketing, supply chain, operations) to ensure seamless execution of sales plans, promotions, and product distribution
- Work with external rep agencies to achieve channel and customer goals
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences; providing feedback to the broader sales/marketing teams on customer needs and market dynamics
