About the Role

Full Charge Bookkeeper - Construction Industry
Location: Dayton, NJ
Full-Time Opportunity
A well-established and growing construction company in Dayton, NJ is seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper with a strong background in construction accounting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who is comfortable managing full-cycle bookkeeping responsibilities, payroll, compliance reporting, union requirements, and financial reporting in a fast-paced construction environment.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with construction accounting processes, including job costing, certified payroll, union reporting, accounts payable, month-end close, and compliance reporting.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable support, and general ledger activities
  • Perform bank reconciliations across multiple company accounts
  • Prepare month-end close reports, including WIP, balance sheets, and P&L statements
  • Assist with year-end financial reviews and audits
  • Prepare cash flow reporting and forecasting
  • Process vendor setup, account maintenance, COI updates, and supplier payments
  • Support purchasing activities and financial administration
Construction Accounting & Compliance
  • Manage construction-related reporting requirements, including:
  • Certified payroll submissions and weekly wage reporting
  • Wage Hub submissions to general contractors
  • AA-202 manning reports
  • OCIP/CCIP calculations and monthly reporting
  • LEED reporting and credential maintenance
  • Track job-related waste reporting, load reports, mileage, and operational documentation
  • Maintain compliance reporting related to NJDEP, NJDOT, PADEP, NYDEP, DE DEP, IRP, IFTA, and MCUA requirements
Payroll Administration & Employee Support
  • Process payroll activities, including data entry and payroll preparation
  • Manage payroll-related functions such as:
  • Payroll transfers and wires
  • Garnishments
  • 401(k) remittances
  • Expense reimbursements
  • New hire reporting
  • Maintain employee files, accruals, and required Department of Labor and employment verification documentation
  • Support employee onboarding, handbook distribution, and payroll system updates
  • Maintain union records, rate sheets, and benefit information
Union Reporting & Benefits Administration
  • Prepare and submit union benefit reports and remittances, including:
  • NJBLSBF reporting
  • LDC 332 reporting
  • Operating Engineers 825 reporting
  • Additional union reporting as required
  • Maintain union updates, rates, and related payroll system information
Fleet, Licensing & Administrative Support
  • Assist with vehicle registrations, permits, licensing, decals, and related compliance requirements
  • Process driver paperwork, mileage tracking, IFTA reporting, NYHUT reporting, and daily load documentation
  • Provide administrative support for operational and financial initiatives as needed
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full charge bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Construction industry accounting experience required
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and compliance reporting
  • Experience with union payroll, certified payroll, and prevailing wage reporting preferred
  • Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and construction financial statements
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with construction payroll/accounting systems (P4C experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of LEED reporting and construction compliance requirements
  • Notary Public and/or LEED Green Associate credentials a plus
Salary Range: $80k-$90k
