Property Accountant to join its accounting team. Position OverviewThe Property Accountant will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of approximately 10-12 properties. This individual will oversee month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and investor reporting while partnering closely with property management and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities• Manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of approximately 10-12 properties
• Perform month-end close activities and ensure timely completion of reporting requirements
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Analyze financial activity and investigate unusual account fluctuations
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Review budget-to-actual results and provide detailed variance explanations
• Process and reconcile intercompany transactions
• Review accounts payable activity and validate account coding
• Partner with property management teams regarding rent activity, deposits, and property-level financial matters
• Coordinate with asset management teams regarding reporting requirements and deadlines
• Support investor and lender reporting requests
• Assist with audit preparation and year-end financial reporting
• Support special projects, financial analysis, and ad hoc reporting needs
Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience required
• 5+ years of accounting experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of:
• General Ledger Accounting
• Journal Entries
• Financial Statement Preparation
• Account Reconciliations
• Month-End Close
• Budget Variance Analysis
• Experience managing multiple entities, portfolios, or business units
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis tools
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet reporting deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications• Property accounting or real estate accounting experience
• Affordable housing, nonprofit housing, or multifamily housing experience
• Experience with investor and lender reporting
• Knowledge of intercompany accounting
• Experience with work-in-progress (WIP) accounting
• Experience using Yardi
• Experience with MIP Fund Accounting software

Pay DetailsCompensation will be based on experience, qualifications, education, and market factors. Hourly pay rate range of $59.70 to $66.23 an hour. The role is in San Francisco, CA with a hybrid schedule.
