Entry-Level Property AccountantLocation: Greater Cincinnati Area
Schedule: First Shift | Full-Time
Pay: $65,000 to $70,000
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing real estate organization to identify an Entry-Level Property Accountant. This opportunity is ideal for a recent accounting graduate or an early-career accounting professional seeking to gain hands-on experience in property accounting, financial reporting, and real estate operations. The selected candidate will work closely with experienced accounting professionals and property management teams to support a portfolio of commercial and residential properties.
Responsibilities- Assist with the monthly close process for assigned properties, ensuring financial records are accurate and completed within established deadlines
- Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring entries, accruals, and prepaid expenses
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
- Analyze financial variances and help prepare explanations for differences between actual results, budgets, and prior periods
- Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting packages
- Maintain accurate documentation for journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting transactions
- Collaborate with property management and operations teams to gather and verify financial data
- Assist with capital expenditure (CAPEX) and construction-in-progress (CIP) tracking and reporting
- Monitor cash balances and help coordinate funding requests as needed
- Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation when required
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent accounting experience
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, including exposure to journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Internship or prior experience within real estate, property accounting, or commercial real estate environments is a plus
- Understanding of general ledger accounting principles and basic GAAP concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables
- Experience with accounting or property management software such as Yardi, MRI, or AppFolio is preferred but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and grow within the accounting field
