Accounting Specialist (AP/AR)

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
Our client in Vernon, CA is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support both the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of AP and AR responsibilities and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong reconciliation skills, experience processing payments, and the ability to manage customer and vendor relationships while maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities- Audit and review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper coding
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Process ACH, wire, and check payments
- Coordinate weekly and monthly check runs
- Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries
- Ensure timely and accurate payment processing
- Assist with month-end close activities related to Accounts Payable
- Support internal controls and audit requests
- Apply daily cash receipts, including ACH, wire, check, and credit card payments
- Reconcile customer accounts and research payment discrepancies
- Manage collections efforts and follow up on outstanding balances
- Investigate and resolve deductions, chargebacks, and short payments
- Monitor aging reports and maintain accurate customer account records
- Communicate with customers regarding payment inquiries and billing issues
- Support month-end close and account reconciliations
Qualifications- 3+ years of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or general accounting experience
- Proficiency with Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or consumer products environments
