Senior AccountantPosition SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join a growing finance and accounting team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, supporting the month-end close process, managing complex account reconciliations, and delivering financial analysis that supports business decision-making.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, experience working in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to balance detailed financial reporting with process improvement initiatives. This role offers broad exposure across accounting operations, inventory, payroll, sales tax compliance, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Perform month-end close activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure the integrity of financial data across multiple systems.
- Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
- Manage accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other recurring accounting processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts and monitor daily cash activity to support effective cash management.
- Prepare payroll-related accounting entries and reconcile payroll accounts to regulatory filings.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and investigate significant variances.
- Monitor capital expenditures and support project accounting activities.
- Support sales and use tax compliance activities and assist with various regulatory reporting requirements.
- Partner with internal departments to research and resolve accounting discrepancies and transactional issues.
- Assist with year-end audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Participate in system implementations, process enhancement initiatives, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial analysis functions.
- Experience performing account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting best practices.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, inventory accounting, or product-based businesses.
- Exposure to ERP systems and accounting software.
- Experience with payroll accounting, sales tax compliance, and multi-entity accounting environments.
- Familiarity with foreign currency transactions and international accounting considerations.
- Experience supporting external audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
