Oxford Solutions is working with a civil engineering firm to hire a Senior Transportation Project Engineer to lead highway and bridge design initiatives from concept through construction support. This is a direct hire opportunity for an experienced transportation professional who enjoys leading teams, managing complex infrastructure projects, and building strong client relationships.
This role is well suited for a seasoned engineer with deep experience in transportation design and project management who thrives in a leadership capacity and takes ownership of project delivery.
Responsibilities
Lead mid- to large-scale transportation projects, including highways and bridges, from initial scoping and planning through final delivery.
Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and overall performance to ensure successful outcomes.
Oversee technical design strategy and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, public agencies, and clients to meet project objectives.
Direct QA/QC efforts, review deliverables, monitor billing, and manage project closeout activities.
Serve as primary client contact, providing consistent communication, updates, and technical guidance.
Prepare proposals and support business development efforts by strengthening existing relationships and identifying new opportunities.
Guide projects through public review processes and municipal or state agency approvals.
Mentor and support engineering staff, fostering professional growth and high performance.
Maintain working knowledge of relevant design tools to effectively collaborate with technical teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
10+ years of transportation engineering experience, including management of DOT-funded highway and bridge projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT candidates with strong experience and intent to obtain licensure will be considered.
Experience working with state DOT standards such as NYDOT or PennDOT preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; MicroStation experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, lead teams, and deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
Strong client-facing skills with a track record of building and maintaining long-term relationships.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
