About the Role

Visiting Faculty - Project Dragonfly

Instructors are needed to teach established online courses offered by Project Dragonfly at Miami University during the 2025-26 spring semester. Courses may be taught face-to-face or online depending on need. Ability to teach online limited to specificstates. Course assignments are made on a semester basis. Opportunity for renewal based on available funding and performance. Instructors are required to have access to the web.

Duties include reviewing course curriculum and student projects, interacting online, assessing and grading student work, and submitting final grades.

Required: Doctoral degree in ecology, evolution, conservation biology or a closely related discipline; or a master's degree in ecology, evolution, conservation biology or a closely related field such as science, conservation, ecology, science education and 5 years professional experience, demonstrated educational, community leadership, or research proficiency in the fields of education, community leadership, wildlife conservation, zoological management and research, non-profit organization, or related activities.Candidates without past teaching experience must be approved by the Dragonfly Graduate Committee for teaching potential as demonstrated by relevant professional activities and a teaching demonstration.

Consistent access to the web is required.

Consideration will be given to applicants with experience with web-based courses and instruction; specialized knowledge in content areas offered by Project Dragonfly (e.g., conservation, ecology, evolution, participatory and inquiry-driven education, and community engagement); experience with web tools for collaboration, including Skype, Zoom, Google apps, web conferencing, and creation of video/instructional media.

A criminal background check is required. All campuses are smoke- and tobacco-free campuses.
