About the Role

People Operations Specialist

At Klim, we work with farmers and food companies to make regenerative agriculture scalable and financially rewarding for farmers. Through our platform, we help farmers restore soil health, increase biodiversity and capture carbon while creating new, reliableincome streams.

We're a Berlin-based AgriTech startup backed by $22M in Series A funding, partnering with global food leaders such as Nestlé and Kaufland to reduce emissions across their supply chains and build long-term resilience. Since 2020, we've supported 3,500 farmers managing over 900,000 hectares. If you're passionate about building a sustainable food system and driving real climate impact, join us and help create a healthier planet!

Your mission:

As our People Operations Specialist, you will ensure seamless, scalable, and compliant People Operations across the organisation. By owning end-to-end execution and continuously improving processes, you will enable Klim to grow efficiently while maintaining a strong employee experience and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities:

  • Own and run all core People Ops processes, including payroll, contracts, recruiting coordination, employee lifecycle, and compliance
  • Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely execution of all HR operations
  • Maintain and improve employee records, documentation, and HR systems

Process Optimisation & Scalability:

  • Identify inefficiencies and continuously improve People Ops workflows
  • Build structured, scalable, and well-documented processes across multiple countries
  • Introduce automation and system improvements to reduce manual work and increase efficiency

Employee Lifecycle & Experience:

  • Ensure smooth onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
  • Maintain a high-quality employee experience across all touchpoints
  • Strengthen clarity, transparency, and trust across the organisation

Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership:

  • Act as trusted partner to leadership on operational people-related topics
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance, and organisational topics
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and external partners

Complex Topics & Projects:

  • Manage sensitive HR topics
  • Lead cross-functional operational projects (e.g. office expansion, OKR processes)
  • Ensure consistent, compliant, and structured handling of complex situations

Your profile:

  • 3+ years of experience in People Operations or HR in a fast-growing environment
  • Strong knowledge of German labor law and HR processes
  • Experience working in international or multi-country setups is a plus
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently
  • Highly structured, detail-oriented, and reliable
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly hands-on and proactive, with a strong bias for action in fast-paced environments
  • Fluent in English and German

Your benefits:

  • Opportunity: Be part of our journey from the very beginning, working on an equal footing with the leadership team to build a new company.
  • Impact: Make a daily and active contribution to combating climate change, promoting consumer education, and fostering fair conditions for our climate-conscious farmers.
  • Autonomy: Take ownership of your projects and enjoy a high degree of creative freedom.
  • Flexible work model: At Klim, we foster a flexible, hybrid work approach and facilitate remote work (within the EU). It is advantageous for this role if you live in Berlin or can be present in our office regularly.
  • Additional benefits for full time, permanent employees: We offer membership in the Urban Sports Club or subsidisation of the Deutschlandticket, a company pension scheme, plus team lunches (if based in Berlin) and regular team events.

At Klim, we believe that a thriving workplace is built on the diverse backgrounds, talents, and perspectives of our team. We grow stronger together by embracing and building on each individual's unique strengths.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best. All hiring and personnel decisions are made solely based on qualifications, performance, and the needs of the company - ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all.

If you're excited about this role but don't meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. You might be the perfect fit for our team in ways you don't yet realise!
