About the Role

Part-Time Faculty Positions In Master's Program In Information Technology

The University of the Cumberlands seeks qualified candidates for part-time faculty positions in our Master's program in Information Technology. Successful candidates will hold an earned Ph.D. in Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science and have a strong background in online course instruction at the graduate level. Part-time faculty members will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in both online and executive formats, including residency weekend class sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Course Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction in online and executive formats for graduate-level courses in Information Technology.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a dynamic and interactive learning environment, promoting student engagement and critical thinking. Regularly communicate with students and provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments.
  • Residency Weekends: Participate in residency weekend class sessions as part of the executive format. Engage with students during face-to-face interactions, ensuring a positive and enriching experience. U of C hosts weekend residencies at various locations across the US.
  • Student Support: Offer academic support to students through office hours, online communication, and other appropriate means. Facilitate discussions, address inquiries, and guide students in their academic and professional development.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate student performance through a variety of assessment methods. Contribute to the ongoing assessment and improvement of program outcomes.
  • Professional Development: Stay abreast of developments in Information Technology, educational technology, and pedagogical best practices. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities: as may be assigned by the university.

Qualifications:

Ph.D.: Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science (ABD or other fields do not meet this qualification) Significant Online Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in developing and teaching online graduate-level courses, preferably in Information Technology or related technical fields.US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residency: Candidates must be US citizens or legal permanent residents and reside in the US.

Expertise: Strong expertise in one or more of the following areas: Data Analysis, Systems Analysis and Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Database Systems, Mobile Application Development, Software Development, IT/Project Management, Data Mining, Cybersecurity, and Computer Networking.

Required Skills/Characteristics:

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, D2L)
  • Values consistent with the mission of the University
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with students, colleagues, and university staff
