About the Role

Accountant (Healthcare Industry) - Hybrid Contract Assignment | Greater Philadelphia Area
Our client, a large Philadelphia-based healthcare system, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. This opportunity will support critical accounting operations during a period of transition and offers a hybrid work arrangement with a collaborative finance team.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger experience, month-end close expertise, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Position Overview
The Accountant will support a variety of general accounting functions, including month-end close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting support, and analysis of accounting data across multiple financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support general accounting operations and daily financial activities.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Perform account reconciliations, account balancing, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting.
  • Gather, validate, analyze, and maintain financial and accounting data.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues independently.
  • Support foundation-related accounting activities and entries as needed.
  • Utilize general ledger and financial reporting tools, including Hyperion exposure where applicable.
  • Communicate discrepancies, risks, and accounting concerns promptly to management.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with journal entries, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of month-end close processes.
  • Ability to work across multiple accounting and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Healthcare or hospital accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting foundation or nonprofit accounting activities.
  • Hyperion or similar financial reporting system experience.
  • Previous experience within a health system environment.
Schedule & Work Arrangement
  • Hybrid schedule with approximately 3 days onsite and 2 days remote each week.
  • Monday through Friday schedule.
  • Standard business hours with flexibility to start between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
  • No weekend or holiday requirements.
  • Collaborative team environment with regular onsite interaction.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour
